Ernestine Sites Humphries, 91, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at Lucy Core Village Health Care Center in Chesterfield, Virginia.

She was a former resident of Hugh Street in Covington for a number of years.

Mrs. Humphries was the office secretary at Covington High School for many years.

She was a Charter Member of the Calvary Christian Church where she had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Secretary, member of the Choir and in various other capacities.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Howard V. Humphries, in 1978, and also by three sisters, Ruth Hailman, Thelma Meador and Nancy Glover, and one brother, Kenneth Sites.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, David and Irma Humphries of Richmond; three grandchildren, Jeff and Elizabeth Humphries of Raymore, MO; Patricia and John Ligon and Carrie and James Simpson, all of Richmond; four great grandchildren, Shadowe McNeff and Ian Humphries, both of Raymore, MO; and Caleb Simpson and Olivia Simpson, both of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. Michael Warren.

Friends may pay their respects at any time at Arritt Funeral Home.

Entombment will follow in the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Humphries, James Simpson, John Ligon, Sonny Thompson, Frank Williamson and Jim Simpson.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
