Obituary for Samuel (Ray) Sorrells Samuel (Ray) Sorrells
Lees Carpets Retiree Dies At Age 81

Samuel (Ray) Sorrells, 81, of Buena Vista, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born August 6, 1928 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Paul Wilson Sorrells and Irma Carter Sorrells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Samuel Ray Sorrells, Jr.

Ray was a member of the Lexington Lauderdale ARP Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 126 in Buena Vista.

He was retired from Lees Carpets.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Knick Sorrells; one sister, Estelle Higgins and one brother, Joseph Sorrells, both of Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wyatt Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
