Alvin Eugene Blackwell, 72, of Lexington, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.

Born August 27, 1937 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late William Edgar Blackwell and Martha Kronauer Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Louise Blackwell.

Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Ann Blackwell from Williamsburg, KY; Mary Jane Ayers of Buena Vista; Rose Marie Kessinger of Louisville, KY; Martha Ann Blackwell of Lexington; one brother, Billy Blackwell of Baltimore, MD; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Daniels officiating.

The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
