David Andrews Spangler, 66, of 70 Happy Jack Trail, Goshen, VA, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1943 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Isaac Eldridge Spangler and Ethel Beatrice Craighead Spangler.

David was retired truck driver with Landford Brothers, Inc. in Roanoke.

He was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Billie Eugene; Paul David; Avis Lee; James Arnold; Bernard Mathew and Howard Kenneth.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa Ann Bowen Spangler of Goshen; one son Steven L. Spangler and his wife Sherry of Rocky Mount; one daughter, Shawn Marie Altice of Martinsville; one step daughter, Julie Maria Woodson Nicely McCauley and her husband, Gary N. McCauley; one step son, Terry Woodson of Goshen; two granddaughters, Desara Gomas of Martinsville and Tara Nichole "Nickie" Nicely of Goshen; one grandson, Luke Chandler Woodson of Goshen; three brothers, John Winfield of Salem; Joanthan Wainwrieht of Blacksburg and Ray Spangler of Shawsville; two self-adopted brothers, Joe Harris and Pete Warren; and a sister, Rufus Haymaker and her husband, Wayne of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with David's wishes, his body has been cremated.

The memorial service originally set for Friday evening, March 19, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel has been CANCELLED. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
