Vesuvius Resident Dies At Age 57

Ruth Ann Dial Vandyke, of Vesuvius, Virginia, succumbed to a very long illness early Thursday morning, April 8, 2010.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was born on January 1, 1953, and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in West Frankford, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her father, William H. Dial; and brother, Greg H. Dial.

Ruth is survived by her husband, James O. Vandyke; mother, Ruth Naydean Dial; son, Walter Brown, of Bristol, Tenn.; daughter, Vanessa Phillips, of Covington, Va.; grandchildren, Blake Angle, of Covington, Va., Brooklynn Angle, of Covington, Va., Austin Angle, of Covington, Va., and Trinity Brown, of Bristol, Tenn.; brothers, Bruce Dial, of Pineville, N.C., and Mark Dial, of Gloucester, Va.; sister, Beth Dial Stroup, of Austin, Texas; son-in-law, Mike Phillips, of Covington, Va.; and stepsons, Mark Vandyke, of Titesville, Fla., and Cody Vandyke, of Belfast, Va.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Ken Scoggins officiating.
