Earl F. Sorrells, Jr., 59, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010.

Earl (The Body) was a native of Buena Vista, Virginia, and was a resident of the Peninsula for 39 years.

He was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding as a painter in the X33 Department for 39 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed NASCAR and was a big Earnhardt fan.

Earl was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Andrews and her husband, Andy.

He is survived by his father, Earl F. Sorrells and his wife, Dorothy of Buena Vista, VA; son, Roy Sorrells and his wife, Danielle of Grafton; daughter, Jennifer Bonniville and her husband, Joshua of Hampton; niece, Shannon Donald of Lynchburg, VA; fiance, Freda Shackelford of Yorktown, VA; sister, Peggy Watkins of Madison Heights, VA; and two grandsons, CJ and Steven.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm on Wednesday, April 14, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington, VA with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Bolling Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
