Obituary for Dewey W. Cotton Hylton Dewey W. Cotton Hylton
Retired Mechanic Worked With Hercules, Inc. And Industrial Rayon Corp.

Dewey W. Cotton Hylton, 92, of 4000 Johnson Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Floyd County, a son of the late Harry and Essie Chloe Weeks Hylton.

Cotton retired as a mechanic from the former Hercules Inc. and was also an employee of the former Industial Rayon.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He enjoyed many years of square dancing, loved to hunt and fish and also loved to water ski and playing cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Eggleston Hylton, in 1977; a son, Dewey Hylton, Jr. in 2009; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Hylton in 2008; a brother, Weir Hylton; a sister, Virginia Barland and a nephew, John Vest.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Hylton and Darius Hylton and his wife, Carolyn, all of Covington; four daughters, Linda Snead and her husband, Steve of Roanoke; Peggy Walton of Covington; Betty Atkins and her husband, Barry of Covington and Ruth Johnson and her husband, Scott of Salem; special friend, Doris Nicely of Clifton Forge; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangments.
