Keydet General Motel & Restaurant Owner Dies At Age 79

Norma Gibson (MeMe) Moore, 79, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the University of Virginia Hospital.

She was born July 28, 1930 in Franklin, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late raymond L. Gibson and Rose Bellerose Gibson.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth DeWitt "Buster" Moore; a great grandson, Nathanial David Moore; two sisters: Mary Shaner and Evelyn Byrd; two brothers: Lewis Gibson and Earl Gibson.

Norma and her late husband, Buster, built and owned the DeWitt's Keydet General Motel and Restaurant in 1962.

Norma was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

She was also a member of the Lexington Moose Lodge, a volunteer at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital and one of the founders of the Rockbridge Area Sight Support Group.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth "Bussie" DeWitt Moore Jr. and wife, Darlene and one daughter, Margie Roberts, both of Lexington; five grandchildren: Thomas D. Roberts and wife, Ginger; Laurie Roberts Mays and husband, David Mays, Jr.; Teri Moore Schnabel and husband, Martin Schnabel; Kevin Moore and Kris Moore; four great grandchildren: Dustin and Brandon Mays, Brianna Roberts and Emerson Schnabel; brother-in-law, Marlowe Harper.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Stonewall Jackson Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital Volunteer Program, 1 Health Circle, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

The family will receive friends from 5 o 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
