Rockbridge County Native Dies At Age 93

Omega M. Fields Morrison, 93, of Lexington, Virginia, departed this life, Wednesday May 12, 2010 to be with the Lord.

She was the fifth of eight children born to the late John Henry Fields and Lillie Gold Randall Fields.

Born January 26, 1917, in Rockbridge County, she attended West Buena Vista, Buena Vista Public Schools, and the Lucy Addison High School in Roanoke, Va.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers: James Henry, John Daniel, Charles Edward, Clinton, Lawrence Winston, Harold Wesley, and Forrest Basil.

She is survived by her husband, Edlow A. Morrison, of Lexington; two daughters, Veronica M. Cuffee, of Chesapeake, and Ingrid M. Copeland, of Mt. Airy, MD; a son, Melvin A. Morrison and wife, Karen, of Lexington; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday May 15, 2010 at Lexington First Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Tinsley officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 Ð2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
