Obituary for Jack Boyd Dunford Jack Boyd Dunford
World War II Veteran Retired From Hercules, Inc. In 1989

Jack Boyd Dunford, 83, of 1311 Hatcher Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday evening, May 30, 2010, in Alleghany Regional Hospital.

Mr. Dunford was born February 15, 1927, at Twin Branch, WV, a son of the late Giles W. and Oma Akers Dunford.

He was a veteran of World War II with the U. S. Army.

He had retired in 1989 from the former Hercules, Inc. plant in Covington after over 40 years of service.

He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunford was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Dunford; two sisters, Betty Miller and Dorothy Thompson, and a son-in-law, Dale Patton.

Surviving are three daughters: Lisa Patton, Diana Lockhart and her husband, Marvin Lockhart, Jr., all of Covington; and Donna Lambert and her husband, Dwain of Salem; two grandchildren: David Lockhart of Covington and Charles Deane III of Roanoke; a step-granddaughter, Tanya Patton of Clifton Forge; a great grandchild, Trenton Deane of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Wanda Dunford of Covington; a sister; Edith Boerner of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 1, 2010 evening from 7 Ð 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
