Obituary for Wayne O. Sligh Wayne O. Sligh
LHS Graduate Was Nation Guard Member

Wayne O. Sligh, 74, of Lexington, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18th at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

He was born January 25, 1936 in Lexington, VA, to Bessie Sligh and the late William H. Sligh.

He graduated from Lexington High School in 1955 and served with the National Guard from 1957 to 1960.

He is survived by his mother, Bessie; two sisters, Carrol Lotts and Barbara Reynolds; three daughters; Cynthia Baker of Roanoke, Lindy Clark and husband, John of Lexington, and Wendy Michalow and husband, Tom of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Terry Wayne Sligh and wife, Connie of Chester, MD; Eight grandchildren also survive Mr. Sligh: Cathy Weaver, Hillori McCorkle, Sidney Baker, Ted Snyder, Grayson Clark, Taylor-Wayne Clark, Caroline Michalow and Matthew Michalow; and two great grandchildren, Rowan Cai and Ethan McCorkle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ben Dowling officiating with burial to follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, VA. 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
