Maurice Lee Johnson, 71, of 807 Oneida Trail, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Brian Center in Low Moor.

He was born February 8, 1939 in Covington, a son of the late Frank D. Johnson, Sr and Sallie Sale Johnson.

Mr. Johnson retired as a mechanic in 2004 after 44 years from AET and the former Hercules, Inc. He was a member of National Guard for 12 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, Frank D. Johnson, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Shiflett Johnson of Covington; one daughter, Janet Dressler of Covington; two sons, Michael L. Johnson of Roanoke and Kevin W. Johnson and his wife, Heather of Grottoes; three grandchildren: Megan Dressler, Alanna Belle Dressler and Logan Dessler; one brother, Ryland Johnson and his wife, Donna of Covington; two sisters, Elizabeth Reyns and her husband, Bob of Covington and Mary Frances Halterman of Midlothian.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be handled by the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
