Obituary for Dorothy May Via McMullen Dorothy May Via McMullen
CFHS Graduate Taught Music For 34 Years

Dorothy May Via McMullen, age 94, of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010.

She was born November 6, 1915 in Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Charles A. Via, Sr. and Mary Ann Rushford Graybill Via.

She was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School, where she played basketball.

Throughout her life, she was a homemaker and an active member of the Millboro Christian Church, playing the piano there for forty-five years.

She also taught music for thirty-four years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Via; and six brothers, Rudert Graybill, James Graybill, John Graybill, Charles Via, Jr., Decker Via, and Bill Via.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Arthur Parker McMullen of Clifton Forge; two sons, Greg McMullen of Covington and Glenn McMullen and wife, Debbie of Williamsville; three sisters, Louise Hunter of Coraopolis, PA, Mary Sillaman of Latrobe, PA, and Caroline Thomas of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Colby McMullen and wife, Becky of Churchville and Shay McMullen of Williamsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery, Millboro with Donald Lee Altizer officiating. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call anytime at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
