Obituary for Lloyd Slough Lloyd Slough
Worked With Burlington Industries, Was Glasgow "Fixture"

Lloyd Slough, 82 of Glasgow, Virginia, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010.

Born September 18, 1927 in Glasgow, he was a son of the late A. A. and Viola Slough.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Lloyd worked for 42 years at the carpet plant in Glasgow and was liked and respected by his co-workers.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Bunny and was a "fixture" in Glasgow, often seen on his way to the post office with his walking stick.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Bunny; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Benita and Jim Houff, Jr. of Vinton, Barbara Slough of Glasgow, Beverly and Steve Newman of Terre Haute, IN, Betty Slough and William Shifflett of Afton, and Bobbie and Mark Hartman of Culpeper; ten grandchildren of whom he was proudest, Todd Houff, Matt Houff, Amanda Houff, Andrew Newman, Justin Newman, Alec Shifflett, Harris Shifflett, John Shifflett, Edgar Hartman and Ruth Hartman; one sister and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Lloyd will be greatly missed by his family and many, many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Glasgow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be sent to the Glasgow Rescue Squad, to which Lloyd belonged during its early years, and which provided care and transportation for him in his last days.
