Obituary for Ruth Arrington Hutcheson Ruth Arrington Hutcheson
Former Covington Resident Was Longtime Member of the Covington Baptist Church

Ruth Arrington Hutcheson, 90, died Saturday night, August 21, 2010, at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

She was a former resident of West Phillip Street in Covington for many years.

Mrs. Hutcheson was born May 27, 1920 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late George and Grace Arritt Arrington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Hutcheson in 2007, and also by six sisters and brothers.

She was a longtime member of Covington Baptist Church and sang in the church choir.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Charles Goodwin of Covington; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Hutcheson of Colonial Heights; five grandchildren: Susan Aultman of Springs Grove, Teresa Wilkerson and Sarah Quintana both of Hopewell and Joann Davis and Tommy Hutcheson both of Covington; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and David Crickenberger of Roanoke; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Gretchen Arrington of Harrisonburg; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of Ruth and Charles Goodwin at 546 Brentwood Drive in Covington.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Poluikis officiating assisted by the Rev. Virgil Woody.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Hutcheson's body will be cremated following the funeral service.

A private interment service will be held in Alleghany Memorial Park at a later date.
