Obituary for Withrow Sutton Hubbard, Jr. Withrow Sutton Hubbard, Jr.
Army Veteran Was Hercules, Inc. Retiree

Withrow Sutton Hubbard, Jr., 81, of 5016 Indian Draft Road died Monday night, August 23, 2010 in Alleghany Regional Hospital.

Mr. Hubbard was born January 22, 1929 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Withrow S. Hubbard, Sr. and Sara Byer Hubbard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Hubbard and two sisters, Rachel Redman and Beulah Bostic.

He was a veteran with the United States Army.

He was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp in Covington and retired from Hercules, Inc. in 1989 after 27 years with the company.

He was a member of the Johnson Creek Presbyterian Church.

He was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are his wife of years, Shirley Redman Hubbard, of Covington; five sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Susan Hubbard, Bobby and Lillian Hubbard, and Tommy and Jennifer Hubbard, all of Covington; Charles and Gail Hubbard of Charlottesville and William and Amy Hubbard of Caldwell, WV; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Barry Fridley of Fincastle; eleven grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Vinesett of Hopewell and Juanita Ford of Connecticut; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home. Friends may pay their respects at any time at Arritt Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Burns officiating assisted by the Rev. Jim Menefee.

Entombment will be made in the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family suggests that donations in Mr. Hubbard's name be made to the American Heart Association, In care of Joy Brackman Weeks, 2212 Dressler Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
