Robert Ellis (Bob) Bare, 82, of Lexington, Virginia, died Thursday, August 26, 2010.

He was born December 14, 1927, the son of the late O.T. "Tank" Bare and Mary McCormick Bare.

He was preceded in death by his wife Christine Altizer Bare and one sister, Gwendolyn Bare Stuart.

Bob attended Virginia Military Institute and Elon College.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

He was employed for many years at Burlington Industries.

He is survived by one brother, F.E. "Pete" Bare and a sister-in-law, Helen Wright Bare.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Bolling, Grose, and Lotts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Family will receive friends 2 - 3 p.m. Monday, August, 30, 2010 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
