Obituary for Vincent Aster Ramsey Vincent Aster Ramsey
Former Hampton Resident Retired From Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company

Vincent Aster Ramsey, 93, died naturally and peacefully, Friday, August 27, 2010, at Kendal Nursing Home in Lexington, VA.

Born April 8, 1917, in the Snow Creek Community of Franklin County, he was the son of Will Lee Ramsey and Belva Turner Ramsey.

He lived for 67 years in Hampton, Virginia, where he was an active member of the Colonial Place Church of Christ.

He retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in 1980 after 40 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Roxie Denzel Ramsey, and two brothers, Artis Ramsey of Collinsville, Virginia, and Quinton Ramsey of Martinsville, Virginia.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Stolarz, and her husband, Bob, of Fairfield, Virginia, and Gale Burns of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren, Michelle Field and husband, Richard, Michael Stolarz and wife, Mary Curtis, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Michael, and Corinne Makdisi and husband, Joe; also five great-grandchildren, Justin, Hannah and Caitlyn Field and Mead and Turner Stolarz.

A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Virginia, 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010. The family wishes to express appreciation to the Kendal Nursing Home and Rockbridge Hospice for their kindness and support to him and his family.

Arrangements are being handled by the Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
