Alene Hinty Smith, 89, of Natural Bridge, Virginia, died Sunday, August 29, 2010.

Born March 29, 1921 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late William Howard Hinty and Goldie Ray Moore Hinty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Smith and two brothers, Sam and Robert Hinty.

Surviving are two children, William Ray Smith of Natural Bridge and Joyce Smith McFaddin and husband, Buddy, of Fancy Hill; two sisters, Mae Hinty and Ruby McDaniel, both of Natural Bridge; one nephew and many nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Broadcreek Cemetery, Natural Bridge, with Rev. Roy Swisher and Rev. Gary Short officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Broad Creek Church or Cemetery Fund.
