Obituary for Alice Mae Rhodes Winn Alice Mae Rhodes Winn
PMHS Graduate Was Dispatcher, Secretary To BV Chiefs Of Police

Alice Mae Rhodes Winn, 76, of Buena Vista, VA., went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Alice Mae was born on April 22, 1934 in Glasgow, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Myrle F. Rhodes.

Alice Mae is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lewis Winn, and his mother Bessie A. Winn of Richmond; two daughters, Myrica W. Keiser and husband, Stockton and Cynthia Humphreys and husband, Clay, all of Buena Vista. In addition to her husband and daughters, Alice Mae is survived by her sister, Linda R. Inge and husband, Tommy of Hampton, VA; and Linda's children, John Inge, David Inge, Shannon Buccellato and Heather Drummond; and their eleven children; three grandchildren, Michelle K. Jones and husband, Joshua of Buchanan, Derek Keiser and wife, Kristy of Amherst, and Amanda H. Taylor of CA.; two great grandchildren, Thomas Jones and Raegan Keiser.

Alice Mae was blessed with an extended family including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends.

She graduated from Parry McCluer High School in 1951 and was an active member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Buena Vista, often presiding over the Women's Fellowship Committee. In 1996 Alice Mae retired from the City of Buena Vista Police Department after 33 years of dedicated services as a dispatcher and secretary to several chiefs of police.

She enjoyed crafts, reading, camping, quilting, taking trips with her husband and most importantly, spending time with her family.

Alice Mae was devoted to her family and created strong bonds that will last many generations. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Stone Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Stone Church of the Brethren, Buena Vista, VA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bolling Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista.
