School Bus Driver Retired From Bluebird East After 21 Years Of Service

Edward Lewis Mohler Sr., 78, of Lexington, Va., died on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 21, 1932, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Jesse Wallace Mohler Sr. and Emma Barger Mohler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Campbell Mohler; brother, Jesse Wallace Mohler Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Ann Dudley Mohler.

Edward was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Mohler was a school bus driver for Rockbridge County Schools for many years prior to retiring from Bluebird East after 21 years of service.

He drove over three million miles during his time on the road.

He was a long-time member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1700 in Lexington where he was honored with the highest degree, the Pilgrim Degree for his dedication of service to the Lodge. Eddie also earned the Golden Spur, from the Knights of Pythias, which is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a member.

Surviving are Lou Hassler and husband, Kendall, of Lexington, Bonita Bifulco and husband, Fred, of Lynchburg, Edward "Ed" Mohler Jr., of Lynchburg, Jeff "Skinny" Mohler, of Lexington, Lisa Perkins, of Virginia Beach, Debi Ruley and husband, Eddie, of Lexington, Kim Maguire and husband, Joe, of Norfolk, Teresa Belcher, of Haymarket, Va.; one sister, Betty Mack and husband, George, of Bay Shore, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and his first wife, Dot Camden Wilmore.

A Pilgrim Ritual of the Moose Service will be conducted 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, with visitation to follow at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will take place for Edward and late wife, Ann, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 100, Lexington, Va. 24450 or to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
