Obituary for Virginia Mae Ayers Virginia Mae Ayers
Lynchburg Resident Dies At Age 65

Virginia Mae Ayers, 65, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2010.

She was born February 7, 1945, a daughter of Margaret Isabell Ayers and the late Lackey Robert Ayers.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her only child, Virginia Isabell Ayers, all her grandparents and one nephew, Danny "Buckie" Ayers.

Virginia enjoyed helping take care of her family, vegetable and flower gardening, NASCAR racing, reading, crossword puzzles and cracking walnuts.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by five brothers: Tommy Ayers and wife Billie of Big Island, Bobby Ayers of Big Island, Robert Ayers of Lexington, Donnie Ayers of Lexington, Lacy "Junior" Ayers of Big Island; four sisters: Bessie Kirby of Forest, Ann Sage and husband, Kenneth of Gladys, Margaret Thompson of Lexington, and Sue Burke and husband, Ralph of Lexington.

Her friends were Phillip Woods of Big Island, the Mitchell Family of Boonsboro, Dr. Phillips of Lynchburg, Minnie Hamilton of Lynchburg and Clifford Wilson of Glasgow.

Special thanks to all her doctors, Hospice.

During Virginia's illness she was cared for by her loving family, Bessie Kirby, Tommy Ayers and his wife, Billie and Ann Sage.

In honor of Virginia's wishes her body is being used for research in hope for a cure for cancer.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
