Obituary for Frances Armstrong Knick Frances Armstrong Knick
Rockbridge County Native Was Kerrs Creek Baptist Church Member

Frances Armstrong Knick, 85, of 511 Fairview Avenue, Clifton Forge, Va., passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

She was born on March 7, 1925, in Rockbridge County, Va., to the late Samuel and Pearl Leech Armstrong.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Kerrs Creek Baptist Church, where she participated in the WMU and the church choir.

She was active in the Meals on Wheels program and loved the Atlanta Braves and playing BINGO with her friends.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sanford Knick, in 2003; a daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Knick; a granddaughter, Carrie Frances Knick; a grandson, Brian Knick; a son-in-law whom she loved very much, Charles "Bo" Unroe; two sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Laynee Jordan and husband, Stephen, of Lynchburg, and Joyce Unroe, of Clifton Forge; two sons, Raymond T. Knick and wife, Wilma, of Lexington, and Ronald A. Knick and wife, Debbie, of Mandeville, La.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Josephine Morris, and Sonny and Colleen Young.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010, in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Bill Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Kerrs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockbridge County. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Knick, Dale Unroe, Brad Adams, Jason Knick, Brian Schwartz, and Phil Huffman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, September 22, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
