Obituary for James Basil Hinkle James Basil Hinkle
Retired CSX Railroal Signalman Was Former Moose Lodge Governor

James Basil Hinkle, age 79, of 709 Chestnut Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at his residence.

He was born June 7, 1931 in West Virginia to the late Basil Condon Hinkle and Vivian D. Holt Hinkle.

He retired as a signalman for CSX Railroad.

He was a life member and past governor of the Covington Moose Lodge # 610, as well as a legionnaire.

He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Paitsel Hinkle of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Joyce Hinkle Wolfe of Clifton Forge, Linda Hinkle Nicely of Stuarts Draft, and Sandy Hinkle Hall of Lexington; a sister, Sue Hinkle Tabor of Tennessee; a brother, Maxie Hinkle and wife, Sue of Covington; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Paitsel Underwood of Selma; brother-in-law, Robert Lewis Paitsel of Selma; eight grandchildren, Jamie Nicely and wife ,Joyce Ann, Carissa Smith and husband, Charles, Lorie Wilbourn, Forrest DePriest and wife, Mary Kate, Amanda DePriest, Alyssa Morris, Janette Dodd, and Kimberly Dodd; nine great grandchildren, Cody Snead, Ella Wilbourn, Allie Taylor, Aydan Smith, Evelyn Smith, Austin Nicely, Jereme Nicely, Chase Morris, and Camden Morris; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, Attn: Joy Weeks, Memorial Chairman, 2212 Dressler Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
