Obituary for Nora Murphy (Lou) Hahn Nora Murphy (Lou) Hahn
Epworth United Methodist Church Member Loved Bowling, Baseball

Nora Murphy (Lou) Hahn, 81, of The Woodlands, formerly of Valley Ridge, died October 2, 2010 at the nursing home.

She was born in Alleghany County, Virginia on January 22, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Pauline Jenkins Murphy.

She was a retired cashier at Kroger, Inc., and worked at the former Industrial Rayon of Covington for a number of years.

Lou was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma. She loved her bowling and was a member of the bowling league in Covington. She was an avid baseball fan, especially the Atlanta Braves.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Allen Hahn, in June of 2007.

She is survived by 4 sons, Timothy A. Hahn and wife, Darlene of Roanoke, David Jeffrey Hahn and wife, Belinda of Pilot, Gary Michael Hahn and Stephanie of North Carolina, and Kevin Burhman Thomas of Clifton Forge; 3 sisters, Dora McCaleb of Selma, Carrie Sue Thomas and husband, Basil of Eagle Rock and Frankie Gorman and husband, Bill of Lynchburg; a brother, Mike Murphy and wife, Shelia of Wesgate, Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Ruby Murphy of Clifton Forge; 9 grandchildren, Matthew Hahn, Austin Hahn, Ashley Lawrence, Heather Lawrence, Ricky Lawrence, Brittany Hahn, Bryan Hahn, Kasey Whittaker and Dusty Thomas; a great grandchild Natalie Whitaker; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. "Pat" Murphy.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Tucker and Mr. Luther Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Active Pallbearers will be, Ricky Lawrence, Kenny Lane, Gerald Craft, Luther Wallace, Richard Terrell and other friends and family attending the funeral service. Honorary pallbearer will be James "Neighbor" Smith. The family received friends Sunday evening at Nicely Funeral Home. Friends may call any time at the home of Mike and Shelia Murphy, 96 Ferrol Ave, Wesgate, Clifton Forge, Virginia at any time.
