Betty Jean Sweet Garrett of Fairfield, Va., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 11, 2010 at Augusta Health Care in Fisherville, Va.

She was born November 3, 1936, a daughter of the late Hubert Sweet and Rosa Painter Sweet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry C. Sweet.

Betty was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, and was employed by the Rockbridge County Administrators Office for 10 years.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Garrett of Fairfield; two sons, Carl Lee Sandridge and wife, Connie; Kenny Sandridge and wife, Angie, and her only grandchild, Mallory Sandridge, all of Raphine; two sisters, Dorothy Arehart of Charlottesville, VA; Shirley Cline and husband, Carl (Pete) of Staunton; one step-son, Scott Garrett of Buena Vista; three step grandsons, Dylan Garrett of Natural Bridge; Scottie Garrett of Buena Vista; Jonathan Wines of Raphine.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Stone Church of the Brethren in Buena Vista with the Rev Russ Barb and the Rev Rader Ogden, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Stone Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
