Obituary for William Edward Jarvis William Edward Jarvis
World War II Veteran Retired From Coca-Cola Company

William Edward Jarvis, 90, of Fairfield, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

He was born December 8, 1919 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late James David Jarvis and Cynthia Miller Jarvis.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers.

Mr. Jarvis served for three and a half years in World War II as a Gunner Corporal, receiving a purple heart and a medal of good conduct, three years with the state and 37 years at the Coca Cola Co. where he retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church, the VFW #1499, and was a life member of the NRA.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruby Mohler Jarvis; two sons, Dwight Edward Jarvis and wife, Darlene; Tony Alan Jarvis and wife, Cheri; two daughters, Teresa Jarvis McCoy and husband, Jim; Pamela Sue Loudermilk and husband, Larry, all of Lexington; one brother, Curtis Jarvis of Lexington; one sister, Vivian McCauley of Charleston, NC; seven grandchildren, Heather Paitsel and husband, Jamie, Crystal Jarvis, Kimberly Swink and husband, Jimmy, Justin Jarvis, Whitney Rhodes, Allison McCoy and Chase Jarvis; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren, Jonathan Entsminger, Christopher Clark and Peyton Strickler; and ten step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Gordon and Pastor Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge ARP Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church or the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
