Louise Shirley McLaughlin Smith, 91, of 30462 Mountain Valley Road, Millboro, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

She was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Bath County, the daughter of the late John McLaughlin and Mabel Kenney McLaughlin.

She was married to John Baptist "J.B." Smith. She was retired from the Staunton Post Office. She was a member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church, where she served as the organist.

She is survived by a nephew, Harper Wagner and wife, Gayle, of Millboro; a great-nephew and niece, Harper Wagner Jr. and friend, Jesalyn White, of Richmond and Tiphoney Varallo and husband, Todd, of Nashville, Tenn.; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Wagner, and three brothers.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Windy Cove Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Sherrard officiating.
