Joseph Robert Coleman, 86, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Salem.

Born October 4, 1924 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Edmond Z. Coleman and Mary Margaret Sorrells.

Robert was a member of the Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church in Buena Vista, retired from Bonded Fibers after 35 years of service, and served in the US Army during World War II.

Surviving are are his wife, Ardena Patterson Coleman; one son, James Coleman of Roanoke; one daughter, Brenda Corbin of Buena Vista; two brothers, Mack Coleman and Walter Coleman, both of Buena Vista.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery with the Pastor Ben Sanders officiating. The family will not receive friends at the funeral home, but will welcome friends at the home at any time.
