Obituary for Shirley Hall Goodbar Shirley Hall Goodbar
Lexington Resident Was Former School Bus Driver

Shirley Hall Goodbar, 72, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at her home.

Born April 19, 1938, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Freeman Hall and Bessie Staton Hall.

Mrs. Goodbar was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton H. Goodbar.

Shirley was a member of the Ebenezer ARP Church, Lexington Moose Lodge, and volunteered at local nursing homes providing entertainment for the elderly. She was a school bus driver for Rockbridge County Schools for many years.

Surviving are special companion, Ashby P. Horne; one son, Eddie M. Davis, Jr.; two daughters, Patricia D. Deacon; Vivian D. Dunlap; one brother, Danny Hall; three sisters: Clara Higgins, Bertie Hall and Lonnie Hostetter, all of Lexington; four grandchildren, Brent Deacon, Hillary Deacon, Angela Howell, and Megan Dunlap; two great grandchildren, Lucas Tristen Howell and Tylon Nguyen Deacon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Short, the Rev. Skip Hastings and the Rev. Hunter Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with a visitation to follow at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice P.O. Box 948 Lexington, VA 24450.
