World War II Veteran Was Retired Postal Clerk

Thomas David (Tinker) Moore, 82, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, November 6, 2010.

Born January 3, 1928 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Edward A. Moore and Alice Irvine Moore.

He retired as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service.

Thomas was a member of New Providence Church in Raphine, was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Virginia National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Wiseman Moore, a granddaughter, Laura Lee Miller; and sister; Sadie Hostetter.

Mr. Moore is survived by son, Thomas Wayne Moore, and wife Thresa; a daughter, Wilma Louise Miller and husband, Charlie. sisters, Dorothy Adams, Shirley Ayres, and Sandra Shiplett; sister-in-law, Louise Stuart, all of Lexington, four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Short officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
