Obituary for Sadie Armstrong Bane Sadie Armstrong Bane
Rockbridge County Native Was Iron Gate Resident

Sadie Armstrong Bane, 87, of Iron Gate, Virginia, died November 4, 2010, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

Mrs. Bane was born December 13, 1922, at Collierstown in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Elmer Armstrong and Lena Higgins Armstrong Patterson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rowe Bane in 1981 and one son, James R. Bane.

Surviving are three daughters, Edith Weatherford of Harrisonburg, Patricia Bonner and her, husband, Larry, of Sumter, SC, and Vickie Dillon and her, husband Gene, of Radford; one son, Edward K. Bane, of Covington; ten grandchildren, Jody Deffinbaugh and Dale Deffinbaugh of Roanoke, Sheila Hall of Collierstown, Terry Link of Buchanan, Daryl Bane of Lexington, Chris Bonner and Courtney Bonner of Ypsilanti, MI, Cory Bonner of Chattanooga, TN, Clay Dillon of Midlothian and Travis Dillon of Winston-Salem, NC; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Hall and Lucille Nicely, both of Lexington, and Dottie Mille of Buena Vista; and one brother, Earl Armstrong of Baltimore, MD and two special caregivers, Susie Kemper and Jo Jo Miller.

The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Hunter Hale officiating. Interment was made in Alleghany Memorial Park. The online guest book is available at www.arrittfuneralhome.com.
