Obituary for John Warner Allison John Warner Allison
Lexington Native Was Roanoke Resident

Mr. John Warner Allison, age 26, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010.

John was born August 7, 1984 in Lexington, the son of Samuel Carey Allison and Sue Gentry Allison. He was a resident of Roanoke since 1989 and a 2002 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, where he enjoyed music, sports and was co-captain of his football team. John attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church in Roanoke.

In addition to his parents, Samuel Carey Allison and Sue Gentry Allison, John is survived by his maternal grandparents, John R. Gentry, Jr. and wife, Anne Chewning Gentry of Richmond; paternal aunt, Pamela Agner Allison of New York, NY; and cousins, Brandy Allison Frye and husband, Chris of Ashland, KY and Paul Allison of Nashville, TN; maternal uncle, John Gentry and wife, Lee of Richmond and cousins, Anne Peyton Gentry of Blacksburg and Libbie Gentry of Richmond.

John was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Clarence Warner "Whitey" Allison and Frances Keyser Allison; his uncle, David Lee "Mook" Allison and maternal grandmother, June Enroughfty Gentry.

A graveside service was conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at St. Peters United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montpelier, VA, with Rev. Debra Lucas officiating.

Pallbearers were Whitman Ellis, Bill Withrow, Mike Patterson, Ryan Schleuter, Mary Roberts and John Gentry.

The family received friends Sunday afternoon at St. Peters United Methodist Church, Montpelier, VA.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The Music Lab at Jefferson Center, c/O the Jefferson Center Foundation, 541 Luck Avenue, Suite 221, Roanoke, VA 24016.
