Obituary for Dennis Edward Brads Dennis Edward Brads
Army, Navy Veteran Was Longtime Church Official

Dennis Edward Brads, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

Born April 23, 1927 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late William Henry Brads and Amy Watts Brads.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Brads and two sisters, Hazel Easter and Betty Mason.

Mr. Brads was a member of the Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for 45 years and was currently serving as treasurer for the past 45 years.

Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.

He retired from Burlington Industries after 46 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Hester (Tip) Johnson Brads; one daughter, Serena (Rena) Brantley and husband, Gary of Amherst; three grandchildren, Jeff, Nick, and Robert Brantley; three great grandchildren, Jonathan, Noah, and Bailey Grace; three sisters-in-law, Beulah Ruble, Mary Tomlin, and Daisy Brads; one brother-in-law, Ward Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church in Natural Bridge Station with the Rev. Donald Stine and the Rev Sheldon Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Glasgow Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
