Raymond Baxter Montgomery, 88, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Kendal.

Born, March 2, 1922 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Joseph Baxter Montgomery and Maggie Potter Montgomery.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Kirby Montgomery.

Raymond retired after 42 years of service with Burlington Industries.

He is survived by his children, Vernon Montgomery, David Montgomery and wife, Phyllis, Montie Montgomery, Zola M. Goodbar and husband, H.V., Mary M. Simmons and husband, Roger, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday December 7, 2010 at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Skip Hastings officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice at P.O. Box 948 Lexington VA, 24450.
