Former Lexington Motor Sales Service Manager Dies At Age 56

Alton Dennis (Dennie) Swink II, 56, of Lexington, Virginia, died Monday, December 27, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born July 8, 1954 in Lexington, Va., a son of Charles E. "Halfie" Swink and the late Margaret T. Swink.

In addition to his mother, Dennie was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James "Bunk" Hostetter.

He was the service manager for Lexington Motor Sales and volunteered with the Lexington Fire Department. He was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gail H. Swink; two sons, Scott Dennis Swink, James E. Swink and wife, Kimberly, all of Lexington; a brother, Charles E. Swink Jr., of Richmond; and a sister, Susan S. Linkous and husband, Bill; mother-in-law, Gracie C. Hostetter; sisters-in-law, Mitsy and husband, Vincent Leslie, Carolyn and Paul Thompson, all of Lexington; brother-in-law, Butch and wife, Anne Hostetter, of Charlotte, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Fire Department. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted Friday December 31, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lexington Presbyterian Church by the Dr. William Klein. A private burial service will be held at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

Arrangements will be by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
