Fairfield Native Was Manly Memorial Baptist Church Member

Clara Cox Hill, 94, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Heritage Hall in Lexington.

Born August 31, 1916 in Fairfield, she was a daughter of the late Robert B. Cox and Cora Snider Cox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Loyd Hill, Sr. and a son, Jack Loyd Hill, Jr.

Clara was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the Ladies Bible Class.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Hill O'Connell and husband, Chuck of Lexington; two brothers, Carl Cox and wife, Ruth of Fairfield and Robert Lester Cox of Richmond; one sister, Dorothy Morrison of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Jeffery William Coryell of Tampa, FL; Amy O'Connell Willard and husband, Jeremy of Yadkinville, NC; and Kevin M. O'Connell of Fort Worth, TX; two great grandchildren, Ella Brooke Willard and Mason Davis Willard; three nieces, Vivian Snider, Mary Fleshman, and Misty Henderson; three nephews, Harold Morrison, Don Cox, and Danny Cox.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Clara to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450 or the Heritage Hall Resident Fund, 205 Houston Street, Lexington, VA 24450. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. James Crews, Heritage Hall Nursing Home, and Rockbridge Area Hospice for their kind and loving care of our mother and grandmother.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
