Obituary for William Franklin (Buddy) Carter William Franklin (Buddy) Carter
Worked With Burke-Parsons Bowlby, Vepco And Augusta Correctional Center

William Franklin (Buddy) Carter, age 61, of 2798 Brattons Run, Goshen, VA, died Saturday January 1, 2011 at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1949 in Hot Springs, Virginia, a son of the late William Earl and Pauline Huffman Carter.

He was a 1970 graduate of Millboro High School, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro, a founding member of the Millboro Fire Association in 1962, a former employee of Burke-Parsons-Bowlby Corp with 25 years of service, a former employee of VEPCO with 15 years of service and a retired employee of The Augusta Correctional Center with 18 years of service.

"Buddy", to his family and friends, was an extremely hard worker and provider for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Minter Carter on November 8, 2009; a sister, Peggy Ann Carter; and a brother, Creighton Carter.

He is survived by a son, Andrew W. Carter and wife, Ruth of Goshen; two grandchildren, Lakkin Micaela Carter of Goshen and Dustin Hupman of Williamsville; two sisters, Betty Lou Colvin and husband, Marshall of Millboro and Becky Black and companion, Michael Holbick of Ashburn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Lloyd Via officiating. Interment was private. Following the service, the family invited everyone to join them at Buddy's home 2798 Brattons Run for a time of visitation and fellowship. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Goshen First Aid Crew P.O. Box 40 Goshen, Virginia 24439.

The Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge handled the arrangements.
