Cathern Ruth Broughman (Poochie) Riley, age 61, of 2710 Sugar Maple Drive, Low Moor, Virginia, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 17, 1949 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Walter J. Broughman, Sr. and Alise Ellen Hyler Broughman.

She served as a cafeteria cook in the Alleghany Highlands Public Schools for over thirty years and worked at Hardee's in Clifton Forge for thirteen years.

She was a member of Iron Gate Community Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, James Auther "Jay" Riley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Broughman and Tammy and Brian Simmons; and a son, James A. Riley II, all of Low Moor; two sisters; five brothers; three grandchildren, Brittany Broughman, Amanda Riley, and Kari Simmons; two great grandchildren, Ashton Burns and Jamie Riley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be no services at this time. However, the family will receive friends anytime at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
