Retired Corrections Office For Central United Methodist Church Member

Grace Eileen Holliday Ford, age 93, of The Brian Center, Low Moor and formerly of 533 Commercial Ave, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at The Brian Center.

She was born October 12, 1917 in East Ronceverte, West Virginia, to the late William I. and Bessie Baker Holliday.

She was a retired correctional officer for the Federal Reformatory for Women in Alderson, WV and a member of the Central United Methodist Church, where she was in the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie F. Ford in 1997; a sister, Rosalie Myles; and two brothers, William I. Holliday, Jr. and Charles E. Holliday.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Jean Simmons and husband, Willis of Virginia Beach; a son, Robert S. La Rue III and wife, Gayle of Alderson, WV; a sister, Betty H. Myles and husband, John of Clifton Forge; five grandchildren, Julie Snyder and husband, Jonathan of Virginia Beach, Howard Simmons of Virginia Beach, Michelle Fralick of Prattville, AL, Mike La Rue and wife, Rebecca of Clifton Forge, and Monica Pugliani and husband, Dan of Prattville, AL; nine great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Barry Burkholder and Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Betty and John Myles, 607 Granville Avenue, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 16, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
