Obituary for Nancy Paxton McCorkle Nancy Paxton McCorkle
Former Meals On Wheels Director Also Volunteered At SJH

Nancy Paxton McCorkle, 92, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday January 15, 2011 at Kendal.

She was born April 23, 1918 in Lexington, the daughter of the late Morton McNutt McCorkle and Nina Paxton McCorkle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Moore Anderson, and Sue M. Kincaid; and a nephew John F. Kincaid.

Nancy was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church, and retired from the Chamber of Commerce.

She was the former director of Meals on Wheels, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Carol Anderson Rose, Martha Anderson Hust, Dr. Joseph A. Kincaid, Malinda Kincaid Johnston, Susan Kincaid Coffman, and Rev. Olivia Kincaid Haney; sixteen great nieces and nephews, and seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday January 18, 2011 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Dr. William Klein officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lexington Presbyterian Church, Koinonia Fund, 120 S. Main Street, Lexington VA 24450. The family would like to thank the caregivers Paulette Lipscomb, Vicky Chittum, Jean Souza, Christie Seaman, Rockbridge Area Hospice, and also the staff of the Benjamin Borden Center of Kendal at Lexington.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington Va.
