Christopher Julian Pate, 39, of 136 Coffee Pot Road, Millboro, Va., died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 31, 1971 in Radford, Va. to Eleanor Rose Pate and the late Carlton Lee Pate.

He attended Windy Cove Presbyterian Church and was a joy to all who knew him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lilly Brinkley Rose.

He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Rose Pate, of Millboro; two sisters, Elizabeth Penny and husband, Marshall, of Elkton, Va., and Naomi Craig and husband, Darrell, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother, Michael Pate, of Millboro; nephews and nieces, Benjamin Minor, Jr., Kathryn Walters and husband, David, Rebecca E. Penny, Ian P. Penny, Hayden Pate, Ethan Pate, and Morgan Pate; a great-nephew, Adam Walters; friend and cousin, Sandy Carroll; and special friends Kyra Carroll, Jim Tennant, and Rob Sherrard.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
