Irene Chittum Semevolos, 79, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at her home in Buena Vista.

She was born May 17, 1931 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Hoyed Chittum and Edith Camper Chittum.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by three brothers: Hoyed Chittum, Jr., Melvin Chittum, and Walda Chittum; and one sister, Gayola Ogden.

Surviving are one daughter, Gwen Truslow and husband, Ronald; two sons, Kenneth Rowsey and wife, Linda, and Clayton Burch; two sisters, Patricia Keefe of IN; Sarah Camper of Fincastle, VA; one brother, Linwood Chittum of Lexington, VA; five grandchildren, Ronelle Anderson, Cristi Truslow, Amanda Hogg, Christopher Rowsey, Magan Rowsey; five great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Calvary Brethren Church in Buena Vista with the Rev. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Calvary Brethren Church.
