Mildred Marie Hartless, 81, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at her home in Buena Vista.

She was born October 17, 1929 in Riverside, VA, the daughter of the late Samuel E. Allen and Cornelia Coffey Allen.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Hartless; a daughter, Bonnie Rae Hartless, and a brother, Earl Allen.

Mildred was a member of the First Brethren Church in Buena Vista.

Surviving are three sons, Gary C. Allen and wife, Carol, and Allen W. Hartless, both of Buena Vista; Joseph L. Hartless and wife, Susan of Austin, TX; two brothers, Carl Allen and James Allen, both of Buena Vista; two sisters, Elizabeth Jennings and Elsie Montegomery, both of Buena Vista; six grandchildren, Will Allen, Seth Allen, Joe Hartless, Jr., Jennifer Hartless, Josh Hartless, and Ashley Lipes; five great grandchildren, Kelsey Bibbo, Kameron Lipes, Brien Hartless, Elle Hartless, and Matthew Allen.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at First Brethren Church in Buena Vista with the Rev. Christian Becker officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
