Obituary for Lloyd Alexander Ayers Lloyd Alexander Ayers
U.S. Army Veteran Was Burlington Retiree

Lloyd Alexander Ayers, 86, of Lexington, Virginia, went home to the arms of his one true Valentine, Monday, February 14, 2011 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born August 19, 1924 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Walker Ayers and Mary Annie Wilhelm Ayers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel A. Ayers; one sister, and three brothers.

Mr. Ayers was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Lexington, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service.

Surviving are one daughter, Joyce A. Painter and husband, Kenneth of Glasgow; three sons, Dexter L. Ayers; Robert L. Ayers, both of Lexington; Gary C. Ayers of Buena Vista; one brother, Eugene Ayers; also left to cherish memories of Lloyd are three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
