Obituary for Phyllis J. Kerr Phyllis J. Kerr
Burlington Industries Retiree, Loving Wife & Mother

Phyllis J. Kerr, 69, of Glasgow, Virginia, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, surrounded by her loving family by her side.

Phyllis was born in Rockbridge County on April 13, 1941 to the late Basil Wilmer and Vivian Wilmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Bill Wilmer, a grandson, Justin D. Carter, a very special father-in-law, Walter Kerr, and mother-in-law, Gladys Kerr.

Phyllis retired from Burlington Industries in 2005 after 37 years of service.

She attended Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Buck Kerr, and her three children Melinda Carter and husband, Troy of Tennessee; Tony Kerr and friend, Angie of Glasgow; Kim Buchanan and husband, Scottie of Lexington; three brothers, Ed Wilmer and friend, Ann of Lexington; Ray Wilmer and wife, Terrie of Buena Vista; Wade Wilmer and wife, Donna of Wytheville, five grandchildren, Cody Buchanan, Cameron McClure, Ashley Kerr, Caleb and Kaleigh Carter; two great grandchildren, Trent McClure and Colt McClure; two special girls, Brianna Powers and Riley Milliner; four special sisters-in-law, Vivian Jarvis, Gay Arthur, Bunny Sorrels and Gladys Mull; and many other loving family members and friends.

Phyllis was a very special lady, "one of a kind", and a mother to all. She will be greatly missed for her great cooking, loving and caring attention that she provided to everyone.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Boiling Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Dr. Brian Weger officiating. Burial will follow at the Falling Spring Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation & Services in Buena Vista, Va.
