Ora (Smiley) Reed Troxell, 86, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at his home.

Born April 2, 1924 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Clay W. Troxell and Ethyl E. Whitesell Troxell.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Troxell was preceded in death by his wife of forty four years, Pauline Rowsey Troxell.

ÊOra was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Moose Lodge, retired from Reeves Brother in 1988, and was the last of 11 children.

Surviving are one daughter, Norvelle Merritt and husband, Mitchell; four grandchildren, Dennis A. Roberts and wife, Melissa; Deborah Bauer and husband, Leo; Alfred Roberts, Jr. and wife, Alisa; James Lawson and wife, Kathy; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conductedÊat 2 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2011 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
