Obituary for Cornelia Agnor Lowman Cornelia Agnor Lowman
Rockbridge Native Worked With Industrial Rayon, H. O. Canfield

Cornelia Agnor Lowman, 90, of 1923 S. Lee Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at her residence.

She was born January 27, 1921 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Alfred Boyd Agnor and Suzie Smith Agnor.

Mrs. Lowman was a former employee of the Industrial Rayon Corp. in Covington and H.O. Canfield, Inc. in Iron Gate.

She attended Corner Stone Church of God of Prophecy on Lexington Street.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John D. Lowman, Jr. in 1982 and also by three sisters, Evelyn Scruggs, Katherine Meeks and Emily Saul.

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Rev. John Dudley Lowman of Covington; one granddaughter, Kathy "Kitten" Bland and her husband, Joe of Richmond; two grandson, J.D. Lowman III and his wife, Colleen of Berkley Springs, WV and Eric Lowman and his wife, Cindy of Winchester; one sister, Maxine Williams of Covington; several nieces and nephews, including Connie Daily of Ocotillo, CA; Robbie Scruggs and Gary Scruggs, whom she raised in her home. The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Corner Stone Church of God of Prophecy on Lexington Street with the Rev. Charles R. Russell officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church on Sunday.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
