Obituary for Glen Franklin (Frank) Hodge Glen Franklin (Frank) Hodge
World War II Veteran Was Retired Millboro Mechanic

Glen Franklin (Frank) Hodge, age 85, of 4280 Mill Creek Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

Frank was born April 30, 1925 in Williamsville, Virginia, to the late Nathan B. and Hettie C. Wiseman Hodge.

During World War II, he served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Franklin.

He retired in 1991 as an auto mechanic for Millboro Springs Garage and was a member of Westminster Chapel in Millboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bland N. Hodge; and two sisters, Agnes Gillespie and Louise Hodge.

He is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Ruby Virginia Barnett Hodge of Millboro; nieces, Doris Barnett Bartee of Myrtle Beach, SC, Janet Gray of Wisconsin, Patsy Hupman of Staunton, Judy Kincaid of Staunton, and Diana Wilson of Staunton; nephews, Charles Hodge of Raphine, Doc Hodge of Middlebrook, and Tom Gillespie of North Carolina; and a host of friends, including Cliff and Betty Gilchrest of Millboro.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Woodland Union Church Cemetery in Bath County with Pastor Larry Brunson and Reverend David George officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon, one hour prior to the service at Woodland Union Church.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is in charge of arrangements.
