James (Jimmy) V. Pelter, 75 of Buena Vista, Virginia, went to Heaven to be with his beloved Joanie, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his home.

He was born March 3, 1935 in Buena Vista, the son of the late North & Ethel Bryant Pelter.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joan Hostetter Pelter; brothers, Clinton, Lewis and Joe Pelter, and sister, Ann Marie Campbell.

He is survived by daughters, Ginger and Eddie Lanier of Buena Vista, April and Eddie Fitzgerald of Rockbridge Baths; sons, James Pelter, II of Tennessee, John and Priscilla Pelter of Buena Vista, Darryl Pelter of Lexington and James Wright of Roanoke; a brother, Donald and Dee Pelter of New York; a sister, Loretta and Jack Whittington of Lexington; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He worked over 30 years at Reeves Brothers untill the company closed, was one of the original employees of I.exington Walmart, a security guard at Southern Seminary, Glen Maury Park, and retired as a Buena Vista school bus driver. He is a life member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church and a life member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad, where he was active for over 35 years.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
